No amount of money will buy exclusivity. However, a minimum of 42 weeks, with at least 3 nights per week of solid employment/gigs ( paid ) or 126 scheduled performances per year absolutely will buy exclusivity. Remember this, hotel clients pay $75.00 to rent a flipchart. Beyonce just got paid $55k per second for a three minute speech, to endorse your Presidential choice. So ask yourself if you're selling us both short.
Availability for touring acts is almost guaranteed, if given adequate notice.
Drummer Steve Campbell has the time , talent and equipment if needed.
Who has a budget!?
Independent Media Promotion working as a concert promoter works as follows.
Rule # 1. He who purchaseth thy venue thy artists and or production, and multiple forms of advertising is the primary key man of the event. And collects all proceeds from ticket and door sales to be distributed amongst fixed cost providers. This includes first any promotion expenses, production expenses, venue overhead, insurance policies and finally talent. Compensation is arranged prior to the booking confirmation. Deposits when necessary are paid upon singing of the engagement agreement. Remaining balances are paid night of the event , after last band ends their performance.
Rule #2. Headliner gets transparency and access to the box office and any proof of admission sales, gross totals , net totals and only in the event that they agree to a percentage of the door or ticket sales or a split point of the overages encrued by general admission in addition to a pre-determined guarantee. ARTISTS THAT AGREE TO A GURANTEE RECIEVE THEIR GUARANTEED PRICE OF PURCHASE and need no access to box office or ticketing.
Rule # 3.
Artists/Talent no longer share the option to invest in I.M.P events and do not get to choose billing. They can however refuse to agree to the proposed engagement. I.M.P. no longer invests in bands merch. I. M.P. Has never asked an entertainer for a percentage of their merchandise sales and works diligently to make sure space is provided for the talents merch table at the the venue.
Rule # 4.
WHEN THE PROMOTER IS AS WELL THE DRUMMER IN ONE OR MORE OF THE PERFORMING ACTS IT IS AT THE PROMOTER/DRUMMERS DISCRETION TO COLLECT/RETAIN HIS AGREED AND PRE-DETERMINED PERFORMANCE PAY WHEN SETTLING WITH HIS OWN ACT(S)!! AND RESERVES THE RIGHT TO COLLECT EARNING AS THE KEY MAN AND PRIMARY IF NOT THE SOLE INVESTOR IN THE EVENT.
Rule # 5 PROMOTER decides ticket price. HEADLINERS DO NOT ALWAYS GET PAID MORE THAN OTHER ACTS. CHART TOPPERS DO!!
Rule # 6 Artist may not cash handle but may have representative observe the promoters cash handler.
Rule # 7. Don't steal from the Goddamned promoter!! Especially if he's playing drums for fucking free!
Rule # 8 Pack out what you pack in, and for God's sake mark or gear.
Rule # 9 Keep your clothes on
Rule # 10. Artist is NOT required to bring the drummer A CHEESEBURGER!
Rule # 11 Cancel Culture is neither eligible for collaboration, employment, service or patronage...how ironic.
" When I met Steve eleven years ago he was wrapping up a season of A.V. work in Texas. I have worked A.V. with him and he is a very capable event manager, general technician, drummer and sound man. I witnessed bands take full advantage of his talent and his hearts desire to be successful. I would like to see him in bands that support him..and themselves. When he is not in a working band he goes and explores other roles within his industry. My son adores him. My daughters hate him. That alone could be near perfect. As a life partner i have had to assume many roles behind the scenes. We are proud to have served Houston as a team on projects, labor sourcing and as well a rehearsal studio in The Woodlands TX which was active for six of our eleven years. Active until the Covid 19 lockdowns and hysteria finally helped to convince us to pull out. . I have watched him perform with many kinds of bands over these eleven years. He has had more national supports than any of his peers. He is the only drummer I know that can play Metal and then turn around and play Motown. He is often in several projects at once. Watching him perform popular songs blindfolded in our living room is especially amusing. When he hits his drums it sounds good. Steve is the nicest guy in the world until you waste his time or steal from him. And no I'm not interested in managing your band. I don't micromanage his career either. I go to shows but I don't shit where I eat. You are going to have to talk to him about your project needs. I just keep track of the time and money , H.R. manager would best describe my role. With a bit of merch girl on the side. I just deliver the truth on paper after the fact. " - Judy Link
"Steve Campbell is a master Drummer and one of my best students " - Go Go Ray -
"Steve has been a key factor in our success having taught our drummer from not knowing how to play drums at all to playing shows within weeks. He excels in his ability to break down complex ideas into simplicity. It is rare to find some one who is talented and proficient in both music and teaching such as Steve. He also has vast experience in live/recording production, touring and management which allows him to not only teach his students the craft but prepare them for the business as well. I highly recommend Steve and would trust him with what ever job needs to be done wether it’s behind the kit, teaching or any of the countless other skills he has honed in the music industry. " - Andrew Z (Billboard charting professional recording and performing artist).
" hippy can play" - Kid Ray Solis
" A cross between Randy Castillo and Chad Smith" - Phil Dubnick
" I will NEVER share a stage with this guy ever again. I hate him! I only joined his band because I was bored" - Elijah Livingston
"If we had this guy in the band 10 years ago in California he would already have his Lamborghini and have wrecked it by now! "- Trey Wonder
