Can you play for free? " I'm sorry, but no. Freedrummer Mcmoron" has left the building. I do appreciate every offer and opportunity to perform in front of others. Unfortunatly the day has arrived where the cost of living, equipment maintenance, fuel, insurance etc. has risen so dramatically and so quickly that leaving the fortress for anything must be carefully budgeted. In an effort to remain available for anyone, compensation is a requirement of everyone. And to that end we have tried to adjust our pricing to be competitive, affordable and easy. Please pay for service/talent as you would for anything else in your life. Mahalo!
If I pay you , you won't mess up right? - If you pay me I will do everything in my power to NOT make mistakes. No one on earth living or dead has ever paid for perfection and I don't guarantee perfection. The contract is for a consummate, punctual, rehearsed , sober, able bodied, equipped performer delivered.
Can you play to a click? - " yes if I can hear it."
Can you read charts? - Not very well. A process of constant understudy. I can teach it however in theater there's less chance of site reading and alot more reading the soloist.
Can we use your equipment/ instrument for the remainder of the show?
No, you can rent it! See pricing. Or you can provide a drumset of equal quality for all of the scheduled performers. Our desire to play does not supersede our commitment to our paying clients or our inventory that is made available to them.
Can we pay for one lesson at a time?
Yes,, absolutely however lessons best serve students if booked once a week for four consecutive weeks. We recommend you do that and then take a break if you want more time to rehearse the lessons. If you think the single lesson might be the last one for a while we recommend you opt for an hour lesson minimum.
Do you teach groups? Yes the clinic option is available. We are not touring it at this time.
Can you get me a rhythm section for an upcoming event? - Yes , it would include Steve Campbell on drums and a professional bass player. Schedule well in advance!
Can you run sound? - can, and won't. Certain consoles are not mastered and so Steve Campbell does not offer operator services at this time. His Audio Visual services fall under the title of a General Technician. A glorified Stagehand if you will. Steve is available event staff overhire. With extensive work experience in pro audio, video, event lightning, prop & decor, banquet catering, concert productions, corporate entertainment. As well as decades of musical instruments in the retail industry. He's still not going to agree to run sound. Or pretend to be really good at it.
Why do you always bail immediately after your performance? Why don't you stay and party at your shows? - The short answer is...We have fur babies. Our guard dogs require our attention because they are kept indoors to protect our belongings. Keaka! It's difficult for people to create keaka if I'm not available for keaka. And, I haven't satisfied the contract until equipment is struck from stage , consolidated, loaded and secured and delivered to the storage unit where it is stowed for insurance purposes. It's more difficult to make an insurance claim if we let something get stolen. Part of the commitment to our clients is being in no way responsible for any negative impact of our presence. Because you would be shocked at the audacity of certain audience members who are presumably under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
We attended the parties we are invited to. We work the events we are contracted to attend.
How do you serve mainland clients when you are based from as far away as Hawaii? - The very same way we serve Hawaii based clients. Only usually with more clothes on. The truth is that our service area coverage is not a matter of will or availability . All that hinders our reach is the clients budget. Steve is ready willing and able. Just book in advance.
